Laleh Kandovan International Rocky Hotel
Our ancestors during the Stone Age lived in caves and mountains. That might
explain the curious affinity we often feel with the mountains and the sheer
serenity we relish while exploring the interior of caves. Have you ever wished
for retrieving those forgotten ancestral memories? You have probably had but
never dared to spend a night in the cold mountains and inside the leaden walls
of caves while surrounded by wild beasts and under the merciless hand of nature.
It might sound incredible but in Laleh Kandovan International Rocky Hotel you
may have such a mind-blowing experience while sipping cold drinks in a bubbling
and steamy Jacuzzi! This amazing five-star luxury hotel lies in Kandovan
village, one of the wonders of human civilization. Kandovan is a village carved
in the heart of volcanic rocks in the mountains of Osku, East Azerbaijan. The
people who carved these rocky abodes three thousand years ago did it out of
sheer necessity in order to protect their families from the brutal weather of
the mountains. They probably realized much later that they have created a
village in the shape of a gigantic rocky beehive. The amazing tradition of carving and
shaping the untamable flesh of the mountains in Kandovan was preserved until the
20th century. In 1935, the government of Iran decided to connect Karaj to
Chalous via a tunnel. This unprecedented undertaking proved more laborious than
expected and the officials had no choice but to ask for the help of the people
of Kandovan. Nobody was as proficient as the people of the rocky village in
tempering the rocks. The tunnel took five years to complete and the engineers
responsible for the project decided to name it Kandovan Tunnel as a tribute to
the workers who came from the village. Kandovan has reared many generations in
its safe and bounteous bosom during its ancient history. It also welcomes
thousands of excited visitors every year who come to experience this prehistoric
land and taste its magical mineral water. Rocky Hotel opened in 2006 to wide
international acclaim in Kandovan village. Kandovan’s Laleh Hotel boasts forty

Kandovan. Laleh Restaurant with the capacity of over 125 people welcomes
visitors with a marvelous local and international menu.

weather extreme, a peculiar form of accommodation developed on the routes of
caravans. These structures called caravanserais, were fashioned to meet the
